‘Andreaskerk buried under a layer of soot’ is the headline above an article in the Gooi- en Eemlander of Monday 6 January 1969. The soot layer had settled on chairs, pulpit, ground, walls and windows. The disaster was attributed to an explosion, which meant that Andrew’s Church would never be used as a church again. The church furniture disappeared and the organ could no longer be used after the soot disaster.

A few years ago, the Robert F.W. Bruinsma Foundation, the building has been completely renovated into what is now BY ANDREAS. An intimate concert hall where young piano talent is offered a stage.

During the Open Monument Day on September 13, you can enjoy short performances by the young pianist Koenraad Spijker, one of the master’s students during the first Naarden International Piano Festival in 2019.
