Satomi Chihara

Satomi Chihara is undoubtedly one of the young up-and-coming piano talents in the Netherlands. She won third prize and the Bärenreiter Praha Prize at the 58th Beethoven Hradec International Competition (2022). During this competition she played Beethoven’s Fifth Piano Concerto with the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra. In May 2022 she made her debut in the Recital Hall of the Concertgebouw.

As the last student of Willem Brons, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in classical piano at the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2018. That was also the best exam of that year in her department and earned her a scholarship from the Jacques Vonk Fund, intended for very talented graduates.

In 2020 she obtained her Master’s degree at the conservatory with Naum Grubert. After winning several prizes in Japan, her talent is also recognized in the Netherlands. Satomi Chihara is a laureate of the Young Pianist’s Foundation (2015) and the Princess Christina Competition (2016). While still a student, she gave numerous concerts throughout the Netherlands. She was also invited to participate in the International Holland Music Sessions (2017) as well as the acclaimed 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th International Masterclass of Willem Brons in Amsterdam (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) and the Naarden International Piano festival (2021).
