The passionate Cuban pianist Lisa María Blanco Muiño is no stranger to regular visitors to BIJ ANDREAS: last spring she participated in the Naarden International Piano Festival Masterclass. She impressed with her performance at the final presentation, which earned her an invitation for this autumn. On 26 October, she will share the stage with her teacher at Codarts Rotterdam and artistic director of BIJ ANDREAS, Nino Gvetadze.
After works by Chopin and Debussy, Lisa will play two works by Cuban composers. First, the Preludio de Sofía by José María Vitier, born in 1954, who, in addition to a large number of classical compositions for various ensembles, also composed a great deal of film music and jazz. She concludes with three movements from Ernesto Lecuona’s swinging Danzas Afro-Cubanas.
Nino Gvetadze completes the programme with a Barcarolle by Chopin, two miniatures by Kancheli, Debussy’s l’Isle joyeuse and two works by the composer with whom she made her breakthrough: Franz Liszt. First, the beautiful Nocturne Liebestraum No. 3 and finally the virtuoso Tarantella from the collection Venzia e Napoli.
