Aarón Ormaza Vera obtained his bachelor’s degree in his native Ecuador in 2016 and continued his studies with renowned pedagogue Jan Wijn and then with Frank van de Laar at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. He was a Young Master at the most recent Naarden International Piano Festival and will play a varied programme in the Pianotalent op Zondag series on 24 November. Enjoy Bartók’s Romanesque Dances, Schubert’s Moments musicaux, Mozart’s Sonata No. 4 and Chopin’s Ballade No. 3. But he will start the concert with four Dainas (preludes) by Jānis Mediņš (1890-1966). Mediņš studied violin, cello and piano in his native Riga. He played in the orchestra of the Latvian Opera and soon began conducting and composing. Most of his Dainas are early works.
