The opening concert of the Naarden International Piano Festival 2024 traditionally takes place in the Grote Kerk in Naarden. And just as traditionally, artistic director Nino Gvetadze plays a leading role in this concert. She begins with an arrangement by Liszt of the Sarabande & Chaconne from Handel’s opera Almira for piano solo. Then Beethoven’s 11th string quartet from 1810 is played by the Ruysdael Quartet, which has been among the top Dutch string quartets for more than 25 years. Supplemented by double bassist Ying Lai Green, they also accompany Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor, K.466, which he wrote in Vienna in 1785 and premiered there. A concert not to be missed!
