The piano trio Jankovic-Giacometti-Thompson, or Hamlet Piano Trio, consists of the Serbian-Russian cellist Xenia Jankovic, the Dutch-Italian pianist Paolo Giacometti and the Scottish violinist/conductor Candida Thompson, who has long been the artistic director of Amsterdam Sinfonietta. These three world-class musicians present their program ‘Schubertiade’ tonight.

Mattias Spee grew up in Hilversum. Like Carlos Marín Rayo and José Alberto del Cerro, Mattias made his debut in BIJ ANDREAS as a master student during the Naarden International Piano Festival 2021. In this afternoon’s program he will play works by Franz Schubert, Jan Rokus van Roosendael and… herself!

The Serbian cellist Maja Bogdanović and the Dutch-English violinist Daniel Rowland are soul mates. For Pas de Deux, their remarkable debut CD, they entered into a graceful one-two punch. With this debut album they already took an advance: a declaration of love for violin and cello that sparkles with adventure. In tonight’s program the duo will play a warm-blooded program with works by Maurice Ravel, Giovanni Sollima, Peteris Vasks and Astor Piazzolla.

Pianist José Alberto del Cerro was one of the master students during the Naarden International Piano Festival 2021. He works not only as a soloist but also as a chamber musician, who regularly concerts with other musicians and is part of the Mylõ Trio, founded in 2018 at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. This afternoon’s program includes works by Beethoven, Chopin and Albéniz.

Thomas Beijer plays… with words. Do you want to talk about the music during a recital? One doesn’t like it, the other swears by it. Pianist, composer and writer Thomas Beijer belongs to the latter category. Until now, he limited himself to short introductions of no more than five sentences, but in this program – following the example of Leonard Bernstein’s masterly Young People’s Concerts – the words play an equally important role as the music. Or maybe not completely, because the words are of course about the music.

He is now a regular guest in BIJ ANDREAS, with this time on his program Robert Schumann’s Kreisleriana and Claude Debussy’s Préludes. “Nicolas van Poucke is one of the most striking talents of his generation in the Netherlands”, says Jan Wijn.

The young Spanish pianist Carlos Marín Rayo made his first appearance in BIJ ANDREAS as one of the master students during the Naarden International Piano Festival 2021. In his young career he already performed with piano great Maria João Pires! In this program he plays works by Johannes Brahms and Frédéric Chopin, among others.
